2013 All Ireland winner Pat O’Connor has announced his retirement from intercounty hurling.
The Tubber native brings the curtain down a career that also saw him win Munster and All Ireland U-21 titles
He made his senior debut under Ger O’Loughlin in 2011 and was named captain of his county side in 2017.
O’Connor sustained a serious knee injury last year which saw him miss out on the last two intercounty campaigns.
Clare FM analyst Tommy Guilfoyle has been reacting to the news
Meanwhile it is understood that Ballyea’s 2018 winning captain Jack Browne is among those who were dropped from the panel in recent weeks, with Gary Cooney (O’Callaghan’s Mills), Shane Golden (Sixmilebridge) and Domhnall McMahon (Tubber) also believed to be no longer part of the intercounty squad.
