O’Connor: All Ireland Schedule is Fantasy Stuff

Former Clare All Star Jamesie O’Connor has echoed the call of his former team-mate Davy Fitzgerald in saying it’s vital the focus is on the next day out, rather than last Sunday.

Offaly referee Brian Gavin has come in for some criticism after the game, with Cork Full back Shane O’Neill deemed lucky by many to have escaped a red card for a strike on Darach Honan mid way through the first half.

The two received a yellow card for the incident, but O’Connor feels a retrospective suspension for the Corkman would just end up favoring the Rebels.

O’Connor has also described the busy schedule of three All Ireland Finals in as many weeks as fantasy stuff.

Fourteen of the Senior Hurling Squad turn their attention the under 21 hurling final this evening as they resume training together ahead of Saturdays clash against Antrim.

O’Connor rejects this fixture as a negative and says the momentum of a win on Saturday could also prove beneficial to senior preparations.
