O’Callaghans Mills are the 2023 Future Ticketing Clare Cup champions.
They edged a tight contest against Clooney-Quin to come out on top by 0-18 to 1-14
The Mills bridged a 28 year gap since their last Clare Cup victory, as they marked the centenary celebrations of their home grounds in Kilkishen with a battling win.
They played with aid of the wind in the opening period, and despite notching seven wides, they led by 0-11 to 1-6 at the break.
Dannan Fox’s goal midway through the first half saw Clooney-Quin take the lead, but with goalkeeper Killian Nugent in brilliant form from long range frees, the Mills edged back in front.
At the three quarter mark, the Mills maintained a three point lead, but some classy scores from Cillian Duggan and Mike McNamara tied the game up with 10 minutes to play.
Nugent, who would finish with a top scorer personal tally of 0-6, edged his side back in front once more, with the home defence withstanding a late surge to collect the title.
