John O’Shea will captain the Republic of Ireland team for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Germany.
O’Shea has been handed the armband after Robbie Keane was ruled-out with an Achilles injury that he picked-up in training this week.
Keane’s absence means that Jonathan Walters will lead the Irish attack, with Shane Long once-again having to make-do with a place on the bench.
Walters will lead a front three of himself, Simon Cox and Aiden McGeady, with Giovanni Trapattoni also selecting a flexible midfield of Keith Andrews, James McCarthy and Keith Fahey.
The other surprise in the team is the inclusion of Seamus Coleman at right-back – the Everton defender has been chosen ahead of Fulham’s Stephen Kelly.
