Noel O Driscoll is so far the only confirmed candiate for the position of new county board chairman.
Clare FM can confirm that his club O Callaghan’s Mills have nominated O Driscoll to succeed Michael O Neill as head of the gaa in the county.
Reports today suggest that vice chairman and fellow clubmate Joe Cooney will not contest for the role.
Speaking to Clare FM today the former county selector confirmed his club O Callaghan’s Mills as well as a number of other clubs have put his name forward for the position
His nomination would appear to indicate that current vice chairman Joe Cooney will not seek the position-
Doonbeg’s Michale Neenan has confirmed to Clare FM he will not be seeking the position while Bodyke’s Sean O Halloran has revealed that he is still undecided as to whether he will let his name go forward with the deadline for nominations closing tomorrow evening.
Former chairman Michael "Malty" Mc Donagh has also been linked with the position but was uncontactable today in relation to his intentions.
The positions of PRO and Irish officer are also set to be contested.
