It was heartbreak at the final hurdle for Alphie Rodger’s charges in Mallow as the ladies of Scariff-Ogonnelloe lost out to a strong Drom & Inch contingent in their bid to retain their Munster Senior Camogie crown.

Having met on two previous occasions in the provincial decider, it came as no surprise to the Mallow crowd to find the belligerents deadlocked at the interval.

The unerring accuracy of MairĂ©ad Scanlon placed balls and the dominance of Ciara Doyle, Amy Barrett and Lynda Daly in the half back line cemented Scariff-Ogonnelloe’s position at the break while the attacking threat of the Tipperary champion’s inside line, chiefly led by Eimear McGrath and Niamh Tracy ensured a half-time score of 0-05 apiece.

The sides traded scores on the restart with a superb Aoife Power brace followed by a Jennifer Daly point for Scariff-Ogonnelloe leaving the sides level for the sixth time at 0-08 each by the fortieth minute.

Unfortunately for the North-East Clare outfit, this would represent their final contribution of the day as Drom & Inch found an extra gear in the final quarter, hitting six points without reply with substitute Katie O’Dwyer scoring 0-03 in the space of ten minutes to secure the victory.

As it finished in Mallow on a full time score of Drom & Inch 0-14 to Scariff-Ogonnelloe 0-08.
