Newmarket Celtic have continued their winning form as they beat Avenue United’s B side to claim the Banner Carpets and Flooring Clare Cup Final for the ninth time in a row.

The match was scoreless for most of the first half before Davy McCarthy slotted one home from outside the box, putting Newmarket in the lead for the break; Kieran Mahony scored the final goal in the 64th minute to seal the result.

It’s a continuation of a very successful restart for the club as earlier this month they claimed the premier league title for the third time in a row, only the second time that feat has been achieved in the club’s history.
