The new chairman of the Clare under-age football board believes coaching is the biggest single issue facing the county.
Doonbeg’s John Smith was last night elected unopposed to the chairman role at Bord na nÓg Peil’s AGM in Ennis, replacing Billy Archibold in the hotseat after his five year term came to an end.
The Meath man told Clare FM that the development of under-age players through coaching is vital:
The meeting also saw Jane Larkin from St Senan’s, Kilkee replace Anne Hayes as PRO in controversial circumstances after the Lissycasey woman withdrew from the election just as ballots were due to be handed out to delegates.
Smith’s place meanwhile as Vice chairman was filled by Sean Lyons from St. Joseph’s Doorabarefield.
