National GAA Round-Up

Clare remain top of Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League, after the third round of fixtures was completed this afternoon.

Tipperary recorded a 4-22 to 1-20 win over Galway at Pearse Stadium, to join the Banner as the only other team on four points after three games.

Brendan Maher, Shane Bourke, John O’Dywer and Lar Corbett with the goals for Tipp.

Clare keep hold of the lead on scoring difference however.

Kilkenny secured their first win of the League campaign, meanwhile, when they defeated Waterford 2-15 to 0-16.  Ger Aylward and Matthew Ruth scored the goals for Brian Cody’s men.

The Cats travel to Cusack Park for a clash with Clare this coming Sunday, in the sides’ next outing in the competition.

In Division 1b, a late Joe Bergin goal gave Offaly a 1-12 to 1-10 win over Carlow at Dr. Cullen Park and in 2A Westmeath beat Laois by 2-18 to 2-15 in Mullingar. 

Meanwhile Westmeath remain unbeaten in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League after a 4-11 to 16 points win over Wexford at Wexford Park.

Two late Denis Glennon goals sealed the win for Westmeath.
