Captain Peter O'Mahony has been ruled out for the rest of the season and is to undergo reconstructive shoulder surgery this morning.
The province says the Six Nations winner went to Dublin late yesterday evening for a review with the specialist, and following the consultation it was confirmed that the Munster captain required surgery.
Meanwhile, Ulster have announced the signing of former Munster academy Prop Dave Ryan, from Zebre, on a two-year contract.
