Munster Target Quarter Final Spot

There is plenty of Irish interest in the Heineken Cup this afternoon.

Munster and Connacht are both in action today.

The Munster faithful will make the trip to Kingsholm as they look to take control of their Pool 6 fate by beating Gloucester on their own turf.

Rob Penney’s side hold a five-point lead over the Premiership side at the top of the group table and will know that another win could effectively secure their place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare.

Kick-off is at 6 o’clock, which is the start time as the other Pool 6 match between Edinburgh and Perpignan.

Before that clash, Connacht will host Italian whipping boys Zebre in Pool 3.

Pat Lam’s side can no longer reach the quarter-finals but will know that a win today would not only equal their performance from last season but would also leave them with a chance of playing in the knock-out stages of this season’s Amlin Challenge Cup.

Kick-off in Galway is at 3:40

Meanwhile, Ulster will also have a big interest in this afternoon’s action.

Despite running out 27-16 winners over Montpellier at Ravenhill last night, the province failed to add a fourth bonus point try during the final quarter of the game.

That could allow Leicester to reduce their lead at the top of Pool 5 to just two points, if they beat Treviso in Italy from 1.35 this afternoon.
