Munster GAA ‘Regret’ Minor Game Postponement

Clare’s minor hurlers and their supporters were left disappointed last night with the late cancellation of the county’s scheduled clash with Waterford in Dungarvan.

Munster GAA says it regrets the cancellation of the game due to high winds, a decision that was made by referee Anthony Sherlock twenty minutes before throw-in in the interests of player safety.

A statement released to Clare FM also states that conditions at Fraher Field were monitored regularly throughout the day, with the pitch playable up to an hour before throw-in.  However, the late decision was made to call off the game as conditions deteriorated further.

With a few hundred people already in the ground, their statement says, it was not feasible or practical to issue people with refunds.

No date has been set for the re-fixed game, though entry for that match will be free.
