The Ospreys were forced to withstand a late Connacht comeback before taking a 24-20 win away from the SportsGround. They looked primed secure the bonus point they needed for a home semi final with three first half tries, but they failed to register any score in the second half.
Connacht now play Gloucester in a two legged playoff for a Champions Cup place.
Ulster lost out to Glasgow, and must return to Scotstoun again next weekend for a semi final clash with the same opposition.
