More Work For Portrush To Host Open Championship

The organisers of the Open Championship have played down the chances of Royal Portrush hosting the famous tournament in the near future.

The success of this year’s Irish Open at the County Antrim course had raised expectations that the oldest Major in golf would soon be returning for the first time since 1951.

But Royal & Ancient chief executive Peter Dawson has warned that Portrush should not "expect anything imminent" and says that there would still be a lot of work to do before it could be added to their roster of courses that take turns to stage the battle for the Claret Jug.
