2019 Irish Open Host Paul McGinley insists he’s still hopeful Rory McIlroy will be part of the field in Lahinch next July.
It’s after McIlroy stated he would be focusing on the PGA Tour in 2019 in order to stay playing as part of the strongest fields.

To maintain his European Tour card, he needs to play four European Tour tournaments outside the majors and World Golf Championship events, but currently only has two on his schedule.
McGinley says while the invitation has been extended to Rory, it’s up to himself to decide his plans.
