Masterson forced to apologise for referee outburst

 

 

Wexford goalkeeper Anthony Masterson has been forced to apologize to referee Derek Fahy following his public criticism of him after their exit from the Championship at the hands of Limerick last weekend.

The official awarded the Shannonsiders a winning point in the game despite one of his umpires initially waving it wide, TV replays proved inconclusive however the Wexford stopper was convinced the ball had gone wide.

Masterson was instructed by the Central competition control committee that an apology to the official would help his case , the Castletown player says he owes it to his club to avoid an eight week ban if at all possible and will write a letter of apology.
