Wigan has given Aston Villa permission to speak to their manager Roberto Martinez about replacing Gerard Houllier.

Martinez guided Wigan to Premier league safety on the last day of the season and also brought Irish international James Mc Carthy and ex Derry , UCD and Kilmarnock striker Conor Sammon to the club.
Former Middlesbrough and England manager Steve McLaren is also said to be in the running for the club.
