Man city back on top and Mc Carthy under fire after 5-1 loss

Starting with the Barclays Premier League, Manchester City are back at the top of the table this evening. They were 1-0 winners at Villa Park courtesy of a Jolean Lescott goal in the second-half.

Earlier today, West Brom came out on top in the Black Country Derby at Molineux; 5-1 the final scoreline.

In matters off the field, Luis Suarez and Kenny Daglish have both apologised for their conduct at Old Trafford yesterday.

In a statment on the Liverpool website this afternoon, Suarez says he let Kenny Daglish and the club down.

Daglish meanwhile has addressed his post-match television interview, saying, "I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool manager during that interview and I’d like to apologise for that."

Manchester United have thanked Liverpool for the apologies.
