Raheem Sterling is to have his medical at Manchester City today, ahead of securing a 49-million pounds move from Liverpool.
The 20-year old winger was excused from the Reds' pre-season trip to South-East Asia yesterday, as the two clubs began formal negotiations.
Should the deal go through, Sterling would surpass Andy Carroll as the most expensive English footballer in history.
Manchester United depart for Seattle and their US tour later today.
On the plane should be midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger after deals to bring both to the club neared completion overnight.
Schneiderlin had a medical ahead of his move from Southampton, while the formalities of Schweinsteiger's transfer from Bayern Munich will be completed today.
It was a busy weekend for United, as they also secured the signing of Italian wing-back Matteo Darmian from Torino.
Meanwhile, Robin Van Persie's move from to Fenerbahce should be finalised in the coming days.
