Liverpool Club chairman Martin Broughton has confirmed this morning that John Henry the owner of the Boston Red Socks has had a bid accepted by the clubs board
It follows news of a massive dispute erupting in the board room last night over the sale
Two bids have been received however co-owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks feel the offers are not substantial enough
The club say the sale to John Henry’s New England Sports Ventures group is subject to clearing up a legal dispute between the Board and the owners as well as Premier league approval
In an attempt to block the sale the owners tried to sack Managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre
Hicks and Gillet say "We will resist any attempt to sell the club without due process or agreement by the owners."
