Lissycasey Issue Strong Finish To Power Past Kilmihil

Lissycasey secured their first points of the Clare SFC in their opening group two clash with seven points to spare following a 2-12 to 0-11 victory over Kilmihil in Cusack Park, Ennis.

Conor Finucane and Ciarán Downes traded scores in the opening exchanges and would prove to be the prime scoring threats for their side throughout the contest

The games first major of the day then came after six minutes when Aaron Griffin ran through the heart of the Kilmihil defence , only to ship a heavy shoulder on his way to goal and offload the ball, however Shane Griffin was on hand to palm to the back of the net.

Conor Finucane and Aaron Griffin further added to the Lissycasey tally in the opening period while Martin O’Leary and Ciarán Downes battled back for Kilmihil.

At half time the sides departed at Lissycasey 1-05 to Kilmihil’s 0-06

The sides would be level on three occasions in the second half  until accompanied by a moment of fortune Lissycasey hit the hammer blow in the final quarter.

Two Aaron Griffin points either side of a Ciarán Downes free for Kilmihil increased the eventual winners advantage to four when a barren spell of ten minutes without a score ensued, only to be interrupted when an attempted fisted clearance from the Kilmihil goalkeeper following a Conor Finucane flighted ball to the sqaure ricocheted of the head of Shane Griffin and ended up in the back of the net.

It finished in Cusack Park Ennis Lissycasey 2-12 to Kilmihil’s 0-11 Points.
