Lions team named for 2nd South Africa test

Lions’ head coach Ian McGeechan has made 5 changes and upped the Irish contingent to 7 for Saturday’s must win second test against South Africa in Pretoria.

It’s now an all Irish back 3 and an all Welsh front 3 as the tourists look to rescue the series from last week’s 26-21 defeat in Durban.

Rob Kearney is at full back for Lee Byrne with Luke Fitzgerald replacing Ugo Monye on the wing. Tommy Bowe keeps his place on the other wing while Brian O’Driscoll continues his partnership with Jason Roberts at centre. 

Steven Jones and Mike Phillips remain paired at half back while the back row of Tom Croft and Irish Duo David Wallace and Jamie Heaslip are retained.

Paul O’Connell’s new 2nd row partner is the ageless Simon Shaw while Gethin Jenkins is the only front row to retain his place as Adam Jones is named as tight head with Matthew Rees replaces Lee Mears at Hooker.
