The Banner suffered an early blow as 2023 All Ireland winner and this year’s captain Marc O’Brien was forced off through injury.

Clare enjoyed the better of the opening period and led 0-5 to 0-3 by the 20th minute, and made it 0-9 to 0-6 at the break.

Shane Dowling’s Limerick raided for the opening two scores of the new period to cut the gap to one, but thanks in part to the free-taking of Matthew Corbett, the Banner were two clear inside the closing ten minutes.

A much stronger Clare outfit fired the last five scores of the game to seal the win and move well into contention for a third consecutive final appearance.

Clare now have a two week break before taking on Tipperary in Semple Stadium, with a final round tie against Cork to come a week later in Pairc ui Chaoimh.
