Last 16 draw of Clare cup takes place tonight

The draw for the third round of the Clare cup takes place this evening in Ennis as the competiton heads into the last 16.

Holders Avenue United remain in contention to record a three in a row success while there are also a number of "B" sides still in the hunt for silverware.

Avenue United’s 7-1 thrashing of Ruan United will have warned any of their rivals that the Ennis club are fully intent on retaining the cup they have won for the past two seasons.

Premier league rivals Newamrket also signnalled their double intent for this season as they beat Moher Celtic 6-1.

It was also a good weekend for B sides as Hermitage  beat premier side Burren 2-1 after extra time while Bridge United B-losing finalists for the past two seasons- needed extra time and penalties  to overcome  Bridge celtic

There are three clubs with A and B sides in the draw tonight with two outstanding fixtures remaining in the competiton as Rhine rovers must still play Treaty Celtic and Newmarket B play Shannon Olympic bB

The draw takes place at 8pm tonight in the west county hotel.
