The most successful team in the history of the Clare Senior Football Championship have been relegated from the competition.
The 21-time county champions have been beaten by St. Joseph's Doora-Barefield at a very windy Kilmihil.
The Kilrush goal was their opening score of the game – it came courtesy of a penalty from Gearoid O'Brien.
However, St. Joseph's kept matters close throughout the first half, and scored a goal of their own through Enda Lyons to lead 1-5 to 1-2 at the break.
The second half stayed close, but St. Joseph's dominated the closing stages to ultimately win out on a score line of 1-10 to 1-07.
O'Brien had a late free to try to salvage an equaliser but the effort was kept out by a dogged defensive effort from St. Joseph's Doora-Barefield.
