The man of the match in Kilmihil’s TUS Clare intermediate football final victory admits the hurt of relegation drove their campaign this year.

The West Clare side captured the title and a ticket back to the top table with a narrow 1-13 to 1-12 win over Kilrush.

Gearoid O’Grady notched the goal for the winners in the opening half but Conor Fennell’s late green flag for the Shams set up a nervy finish.

Kilmihil saw it through, and former county star Ciaran Downes says they were determined to bounce back up at the first time of asking.

Kilmihil also captured the Junior B football title after a 1-10 to 1-8 win over the Banner, thanks in part to Timmy Ryan’s late goal.
