Killaloes Varley Emerges As Injury Doubt For Munster

Munster remain top of the Rabo direct Pro 12 league following last nights loss to Ulster, but will count the cost of several injuries picked up in the 29-19 defeat.

It marked the first loss in 10 games for Rob Penney’s side, but the head coach will be more concerned with the new additions to his ever increasing injury list ahead of next weeks crunch Heineken Cup clash against Gloucester.

Killaloes Damien Varley Donnacha O’Callaghan and Cathal Sheridan all look to be ruled out after picking up injuries in the first half of action at Ravenhill.

Varley would be a big loss at hooker with Mike Sherry a long term injury in that position, Penney may not look to draft in Niall Scannell with Duncan Casey the only other hooker registered for European competition.

The second of this weekend’s Interprovincial derbies in the Rabo Pro-12 takes place this evening at the Sportsground.

Defending champions Leinster are in Galway to take on Connacht.

Matt O’Connor has made ten changes for this game, with Luke Fitzgerald set to win his 120th cap on the left wing.

For Connacht, 21-year-old outhalf Jack Carty makes his first start.

Kick-off is at 7:15.
