Kidney names experimental squad for Barbarians and New Zealand Tour

There are seven uncapped players in the Ireland squad to face the Barbarians in Gloucester on May 29th.

Head coach Declan Kidney has named an experimental squad that will be made-up of players from Connacht, Munster and Ulster because none of those teams have any involvement in this season’s Rabo Pro-12 final.

The front-row trio of Mike Sherry, Ronan Loughney and Declan Fitzpatrick are the uncapped forwards, with Simon Zebo, Craig Gilroy, Nevin Spence and Paul Marshall in the backs.

Paul O’Connell has not been considered for the Barbarians match as he continues to recover from his knee injury but he hasn’t been ruled-out of the upcoming tour of New Zealand as yet.

Meanwhile,

Mick O’Driscoll, Isa Nacewa , BJ Botha, John Afoa, and Pedrie Wannenburg have all been included in the Barbarians squad for their fixtures against Ireland, England, and Wales.

Elsewhere and Chris Henry has been included in the provisional Ulster squad for Saturday’s Heineken Cup final against Ulster.

The flanker is still recovering from an ankle injury but Ulster are hopeful that he could be fit for the game at Twickenham.
