They are joined by Mike McCarthy, who will travel to New Zealand as precautionary cover for Paul O’Connell who is continuing his recovery from a knee injury.

O’Connell is not included in the listed squad at present. A final decision on his participation in the tour will be made on Friday.

Meanwhile,  Munster legend Keith Wood has backed Anthony Foley to be a future head coach at Munster, despite being passed over for the job on this occasion.

The former Number 8 remains as a forwards coach with the province, despite missing out on the top job, though his fellow Killaloe man Wood has told Clare FM that he’s disappointed by this.
