Keane Laments Missed Chances As Clare Fall Agonisingly Short Of Promotion In National Football League

Clare will play in third tier of the National Football League for a third consecutive season in 2026.

Peter Keane’s side narrowly missed out on promotion by virtue of scoring difference after winning 5 of their 7 games in the campaign.

The last of those came against Offaly where an 11 point winning margin was needed, but a five point difference was achieved.

Keane says they had the chances in the opening period to create that gap, but did well to recover from the concession of goals to win the game.

Kildare and Offaly will now contest the Division Three final, while Down and Westmeath make an immediate return back to the third tier for 2026, while Limerick and Wexford are promoted from Division Four.
