Former Aston Villa and Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend says Randy Lerner's decision to sell the club is a positive development.

The US businessman took over the Midlands side in 2006, and had targeted Champions League football.

The final of the Europa League takes place in Turin tonight, when Benfica meet Sevilla.

Benfica of Portugal were beaten by Chelsea in last year's final, while their Spanish opponents won against Middlesbrough in 2006 in the final of the predecessor to this tournament, the UEFA Cup.
