2017 will see a new management team on the sideline for Clare, after All Ireland winning manager Davy Fitzgerald announced he was stepping down after 5 years in the role.

In a statement issued last night, he said the decision was taken with a heavy heart, but that it was his own and not one he forced into.

Jamesie O'Connor, who won All Irelands with Fitzgerald in 1995 and 1997, says the time was right for a fresh approach.
