They won by seven points in the Stadio Olympico in Rome, with all of Ireland’s points coming from the boot of Paddy Jackson.
Ireland’s side was depleted by further injuries after Keith Earls, Luke Marshall and Luke Fitzgerald were all forced off early after picking up knocks.
