Simon Zebo will start at full-back for Ireland in Saturday's World Cup warm-up match against Scotland.

The Munsterman will be afforded a chance to show his versatility after being named as part of a back-three with Tommy Bowe and Luke Fitzgerald.

As expected, Ian Madigan starts at out-half, while he'll be flanked by his Leinster team-mates, Isaac Boss and Gordon D'Arcy.

Jack Conan will make his Ireland debut after being named at blindside flanker, while Sean O'Brien captains the side from number 8, as Paul O'Connell is named among the substitutes.

Mike Ross is the only survivor from the side that started last weekend's win over Wales as he continues his remarkable record of having played in every game under Joe Schmidt.

Meanwhile, there was also some good news on the fitness of Andrew Trimble.

The winger is expected to return to training in 10 days and will be available for the penultimate warm-up game against Wales after a "positive" second scan on his foot injury.

Joe Schmidt has also revealed that Marty Moore could have played this weekend if necessary – but they decided not to risk his recovery from injury.

Moore and Tadhg Furlong are both likely to play in the pre-season friendly between Leinster and Ulster next week.

Elsewhere, New Zealand-born flanker Hugh Blake will make his debut for the Scots.

It had already been announced that Blake's Glasgow team-mate Henry Pyrgos (pron: PUR-GOSS) will captain the side.

Also in rugby, Wales head coach Warren Gatland has surprisingly dropped hooker Richard Hibbard along with veteran half-backs Mike Phillips and James Hook from his World Cup training squad.
