Ireland To Train Once More Ahead Of Sweden Test

The Ireland squad will train in Malahide this morning ahead of Fridays World Cup qualifier with Sweden at the Aviva.

Defender Marc Wilson remains a doubt with an ankle injury although management are confident he will recover.

Sweden’s Mikel Lustig may miss out due to an ankle injury, the Celtic defender picked up the damage against Dundee United at the weekend.

Domestically, St Patricks Athletic are back on top of the Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Saints claimed a hard-fought 1-0win over Derry City at the Brandywell last night; Killian Brennan’s 3rd minute free-kick was enough for Pat’s to move back above Dundalk and into a 2 point lead in the championship battle.

In last night’s other top-flight game, Drogheda United and Sligo Rovers drew 1-1. Drogheda took the lead with a 29th minute finish from Paul O’Connor, but Sligo equalised shortly after the restart through David Cawley.
