Ireland survive fightback from Wales to secure 30-22 win

Ireland started their Six Nations campaign with a 30 points to 22 win over  Wales at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.

Declan Kidney’s men led by 27 points early in the second half but had to hold off a Welsh fightback in the last half an hour.

Simon Zebo scored the first Irish try after 10 minutes thanks to a superb pass from Brian O’Driscoll.

Zebo produced a moment of magic in the build up to the second try before Cian Healy touched down.

O’Driscoll got the third try just three minutes into the second half, his 46th in an Irish jersey.

Jonny Sexton kicked three converions and three penalties.

Alex Cuthbert, Leigh Halfpenny and Craig Mitchell scored the Welsh tries in the second half.

Next up for Ireland is England at the Aviva next Sunday.
