Ireland side for Rugby Opener named

Conor Murray will make his first start for Ireland when they take on the USA in their World Cup Pool C opener on Sunday.

Declan Kidney has gone with the Munster scrum half ahead of Eoin Reddan.

Murray will partner Jonathan Sexton who’s in ahead of Ronan O’Gara.

Gordon D’Arcy and captain Brian O’Driscoll make up the centre partnership.

Keith Earls and Tommy Bowe are named on the wings and Geordan Murphy starts at full back in place of Rob Kearney.

Kidney has decided not to risk Sean O’Brien so Shane Jennings is given the number 7 jersey.

Stephen Ferris and Jamie Heaslip are also in the back row.

The front row is Tom Court, Rory Best and Mike Ross while Munster pair Paul O’Connell and Donnacha O’Callaghan are in the second row.

The tournament kicks off at 9.30 this morning with hosts New Zealand taking on Tonga in Pool A.
