Ireland secure 2-0 win over Poland

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni says David Forde will be in goal for the World cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria next month if Kieran Westwood remains on the bench at Sunderland.

The Galway man made some good saves in last nights 2-0 win over Poland at the Aviva.

Ciaran Clark gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the first half before Wes Hoolahan capped an impressive display off the bench with a goal that was set up by a magnificent pass from Jeff Hendrick.

In the nights other action goals from Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard gave England a 2-1 win over Brazil, Scotland overcame Estonia  1-0 and Northern Ireland drew nil all away to Malta.

Ireland’s World cup qualifier opponents Austria lost 2-1 away to Wales while Sweden lost 3-2 at home to Argentina.
