Ireland out of World cup after Wales loss

 

There was huge disappointment for Ireland in Wellington this morning, following a 22 points to 10 loss to Wales in the World Cup quarter-final…

The Welsh led 10 points to 3 at half time thanks largely to an early Shane Williams try.
But Ireland were level 5 minutes into the second half after Ronan O’Gara converted a Keith Earls try..

Wales hit back though with tries from Mike Phillips and Jonathan Davies to secure a 12 point win and a semi-final spot next weekend.

And Wales will now play France in that semi final next Saturday

The French beat England 19 points to 12 at Eden Park in Auckland in the second quarter final of the weekend.

The French led 16-0 at the break thanks to tries from Vincent Clerc and Maxime Medard and two penalties from Dimitri Yachvilli. For England, there were second half tries for Ben Foden and Mark Cueto…..
