Derek O’Connor Thankful For Strong Support To Continue Racing Career

Derek O’Connor began today’s seven-race card in Navan with victory.

His evens favourite mount ‘Longhouse Poet’ came home first in the 12.35pm ahead of ‘Column of Fire’.

‘Ex-Patriot’ was a non-runner at 2.45pm

And the Tubber jockey’s third horse, ‘The Priest’s Leap’ came third at 8/1 in the 3.20pm behind winner, 5/4 favourite Wide Receiver.

Clare’s leading jockey claims he wouldn’t be able continue his career at the highest level without surrounding himself with a strong support network.

The most successful point-to-point rider ever has over 1,200 wins to his name and is showing no signs of stopping.

The 37-year-old Tubber native is looking forward to the Christmas season and speaking on Clare FM’s Sideline View, Derek O’Connor says he’s been blessed with those who’ve allowed him to remain competitive.
