High hopes for Clare ahead of the Grand National

 

Clare hopes are high ahead of the 2011 John Smith Grand National on Saturday – with the Noel Glynn trained "Because I Couldn’t See" in action at Aintree.

Trained at Durrus House yard in Spancillhill – it’s hoped the 8 year old gelding is in with a shot at the coveted title – now in it’s 164th year – and the 950 thousand pound sterling price tag.

Up to 40 horses will battle out the four and a half mile – 30 fence – steeplechase

Owner and Trainer Noel Glynn says the gelding has proved he can jump following point to point wins nationally, and he’s confident he’ll deliver on the day.

Meanwhile,

Jockey Katie Walsh has been denied the chance to line up against her brother Ruby in Saturday’s Grand National.

Her intended ride "Our Monty" has been forced out of the race with an infection.

Ruby rides stable-mate "The Midnight Club" for trainer Willie Mullins, the current favourite for the race.
