Pat Hickey has resigned from the International Olympic Committee’s executive board.
In a statement from the IOC, the former OCI President said he wants to protect the Committee, and will leave the post with immediate effect.

Mr. Hickey was arrested during the Rio Olympics during an investigation into a ticket-selling scandal, and was eventually released on bail.
He has maintained his innocence of all charges.
