Clare have suffered a one point defeat in the semi-finals of the Munster Minor football semi-final.
Tipperary 0-16
Clare 2-09
Venue: Semple Stadium, Thurles.
It looked like the Kieran Kelleher managed Clare minors were destined to book their place in the Munster decider for the first time since 1994, but Tipperary rallied well late on to secure the win.
There was nothing between the sides at the break with the scoreboard reading 1-03 to 0-06. Clare’s goal came via the boot of St Josephs Miltown man Cormac Murray. Murray would add another point in the half along with white flags from Keelan Sexton and Darragh Bohannon.
Captain, Keelan Sexton got Clare off to the perfect start in the second half as he goaled three minutes after the interval. His goal was set up by Conor Lynch and the Clondegad man picked up a point of his own to give the Saffron and Blue a 2-04 to 0-07 lead inside the opening five minutes of the second half.
Two points in two minutes from Seanie Malone kept Clare three points ahead with forty one minutes on the clock. Tipp hit two scores to cut the gap somewhat but Clare Senior football panellist Keelan Sexton fired over two points to keep the Banner in front. Tipperary would outscore their opponents three-nil in the final ten minutes to book their spot in the final, their seventh appearance in the last ten years.
