Ballyea have just failed in their bid to claim the All Ireland Club Hurling Crown.

The Clare and Munster champions lost out to Dublin side Cuala in Croke Park, losing by 2-19 to 1-10.

Cuala of Dublin were 12 point winners of a game that they largely controlled, especially after Colm Cronin’s fifteenth minute goal.

That helped Cuala take a 1-07 to 0-04 lead into the break, and gave Ballyea a mountain to climb in the second half.

Niall Deasy, Gary Brennan and Pearse Lillis all contributed points before Deasy scored a crucial goal fifteen minutes from time that reduced the gap to five.

However, that was as close as it got for Ballyea, whose challenge was dealt a major blow just minutes later when Jake Malone scored a second goal for the Dubs.

Cuala went onto win 2-19 to 1-10.
