In local golf news, The Michael Shanahan Cup at Ennis Golf Club was won by Cathal O’Neill this past weekend.
Niall Howard and Phil Butler also won men’s and ladies events there over the bank holiday weekend.
At Kilkee Golf Club, Frank Murnane and Barry Harte were victors of an four-ball competition there. Andrew O’ Flynn, Ger O’ Flynn and Neil Higgins won the Rumble event at the West Clare venue.
At Athenry, Ursula and Kathleen Morley won Wednesday’s women’s foursomes event, while Angela Coyne and Máire Donnellan won singles events over the weekend. PJ Holland won the men’s event there while in Portumna the Gent’s Open Fourball was won by John Harte and Gerry Fahy.
The Ladies Open Fourball winners were Carmel McLaughlin & Birgit Degenhardt.
