Gibson Injury Blow Casts Shadow Over Kazakhstan Win

Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson will have his injury assessed further today.

The Everton midfielder picked up a suspected knee ligament injury during last night’s 3-1 win over Kazakhstan at the Aviva.

Robbie Keane and John O’Shea got on the score sheet for Ireland while the Kazaks also conceded an own goal.

The victory means Ireland are likely to be second seeds in next Februarys’ Euro 2016 qualifier draw.

England can start planning for the finals in Brazil.

Needing a victory to secure their place, Roy Hodgson’s side beat Poland 2-0 at Wembley. Wayne Rooney gave England the lead and Captain Steven Gerrard made sure of the result with the second goal in the 88th minute.
