Galvin Red Card Appeal Unsuccessful; Misses Out On Sunday’s Munster SHC Clash With Limerick

Ian Galvin will miss out on Sunday’s Munster SHC clash with Limerick in Cusack Park.

It is after an appeal against the Clonlara man’s red card in the win over Cork was unsuccessful this (Thursday) evening, meaning he will be unavailable for selection for the top of the table clash with the All Ireland champions.

Galvin was shown a straight red card by Carlow official Paud O’Dwyer for an alleged strike on Cork defender Sean O’Donoghue, midway through the second half of the Banner’s victory against the Rebels a fortnight ago.

His initial hearing on Monday evening was called off after it was alleged that someone had contacted the CHC to canvass on his behalf, with the executive of Clare GAA and the senior hurling management team having had no prior knowledge of that move.

Former Minister for Defence and Corofin clubman Tony Killeen, who is secretary of Club Clare, represented Galvin at last Monday evening’s hearing.
