The Banner Ladies have suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Ballymacarbry of Waterford in the Munster Club Senior Ladies Football Final in Mallow.

Playing with the aid of the conditions in the first half the Waterford ladies who arrived into the contest on the back of a 41st consecutive county title, got off to a flying start taking an early 0-03 to 0-00 lead with Sinéad Kendrick and Michelle Ryan on target.

Gráinne Nolan opened the account for JJ O’Deas side on fourteen minutes as the Ennis ladies began to settle into the tie with the addition of two fine Niamh O’Dea points and a stunning save in the Banner goal from netminder Emma O’Driscoll ensuring the sides were in touching distance at the break as Ballymacarbry led by 0-05 to 0-03 at half-time.

Further goal opportunities were spurned by both sides on the restart as Emma O’Driscoll yet again defied the advances of Ballymacarbry on forty-one minutes.

Sineád Kendrick soon brought her tally to 0-04 on the day for the Waterford outfit before Gráinne Nolan replied yet again from a placed ball for the Banner to ensure a nail biting finish. However when Bríd McMaugh and Niamh O’Dea would exchange scores in the closing stages, it would be as close as the Banner Ladies would get.

As it finished in Mallow, Ballymacarbry 0-08 to the Banner’s 0-05.
