North Clare Derby Win Sees Corofin-Ruan Through To Consecutive U-21A Hurling Finals

Corofin-Ruan’s double dream remains on course as the North Clare amalgamation have reached consecutive U-21A Hurling Finals following a thrilling Semi-Final win over Inagh-Kilnamona in Tubber this afternoon.

Josh Guyler sent Inagh-Kilnamona into an early lead with the first major of the day inside the opening five minutes to set the score at 1-00 to 0-02.

However Inagh-Kilnamona would soon fall victim to a devastating four-minute spell in which Corofin-Ruan raised three green flags in rapid fire succession to lead by 3-04 to 1-06 after eighteen minutes with the goals coming from Jack McDonagh, Cillian O’Connor and Robin Mounsey.

While Shane Punch kept the scoreboard ticking over from placed balls for the eventual winners, finishing the tie with a personal tally of 0-09.

To their credit Inagh-Kilnamona pushed their opponents all the way in Tubber and and created a number of goal scoring opportunities, particularly through the ever dangerous threat of Sean Rynne.

However Corofin-Ruan netminder Keelan Mounsey pulled off a string of superb saves throughout the contest to ensure the defending Champions would not be supplanted at the Semi-Final stage.

As Corofin-Ruan ran out winners on a full time score of 3-17 to 1-18 in Tubber to secure their place in a novel all amalgamation final pairing against Scariff-Ogonelloe on December 23rd.
