Munster LGFA Minor Championship: Cork 5-6 Clare 3-6

Goals proved key as Cork left Miltown with a 5-6 to 3-6 win in the opening round of the Munster Minor ladies football championship. 

The visitors to West Clare led 4-5 to 3-2 at half time having played with the aid of the wind. 

Great pressure on the Cork restarts paid dividends for Clare, with a brace of goals for Aine McNamara and one for Lucy Shanahan in the opening period.

A fifth Cork goal with the first attack of the new half saw them open up a nine point lead, and while Clare finished the game well to narrow that deficit, the green flags that were needed to reel Cork in didn’t materialise.
